Summer 2008 at Sky Lake
“Handle With Care” is our theme for the summer as we explore what it means to care for God’s creation. Through interactive daily Bible studies we’ll learn that caring for creation means caring for both nature and people. We’ll begin at the beginning and see how God created everything—the planet on which we live, humans, and yes, even mosquitoes. We’ll hear how God called all of creation good and gave humans responsibility for caring for it. We’ll talk about the choices and actions we make and how they impact everything and everyone around us. And we’ll wrap things up with hearing the good news of Jesus and how he wants us to carry that good news to all of creation. Sky Lake is an exciting and powerful ministry of the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church. It’s a place set apart for people like yourself—children, youth, adults, families, and persons with special needs--to come and experience living in Christian community. It’s an intentional time away from all the distractions that keep you from listening to God more closely. It’s a place where all persons are welcome, regardless of race, color, national origin, or economic status. At Sky Lake you’ll be challenged to take your faith in Jesus Christ to newer and more meaningful levels. You’ll encounter fun- and faith-filled activities, music, study, and worship experiences everywhere you turn. You’ll be encouraged to take steps forward in your faith journey and to go forth to live as a disciple of Christ in your own family, church, and community. Safety is of upmost importance to us. Sky Lake’s facilities and programs are maintained and operated at the highest level of safety for all participants. Facilities are inspected twice yearly and licensed by the New York State Department of Health (records may be seen). In addition, we further demonstrate our commitment to the safety and well-being of campers by voluntarily submitting to a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of our operations by the American Camp Association (ACA). Visit www.campparents.org to learn more about the ACA accredidation process. Take a look at some of the camps we're offering this summer. Please contact the Sky Lake Office to request a hard copy of the brochure. You may also download this year's camp registration form here. |
