Volunteer Counseling

Volunteer counselors help keep Sky Lake’s ministry afloat. Each week of camp a dozen or more volunteers are found leading hikes, sharing their faith, singing, playing, and so much more. "Being there for the campers, having the responsibility of such awesome kids and the feeling of being one of God's messengers filled my heart with love, joy, and ultimate happiness," says former volunteer Ryan Healy. Another dedicated volunteer, Jessica Hores, wrote about her experiences for a college admissions essay. "Counseling also made me aware of how much I love to help people...the most important lesson I have learned from these experiences is to have fun and enjoy the diversity of people in the world, particularly among those with special needs."

To be considered for a volunteer counseling position you must be at least eighteen years of age. We especially look for young- and young-at-heart-adults that have a desire to share their outdoor skills, faith in Jesus Christ, and a joy for living in Christian community.

Working with children, youth, and persons with special needs can be hard work, but the rewards are well worth it. Most volunteers come for just one week of camp and find it to be one of the best weeks of their year. Some have just turned 18, while others have been retired for almost that long! Regardless of age, you will need to register for our Volunteer Training event to be held June 11-13, 2010.
